| The lucha commission in Tijuana has penalized several luchadores recently for roughhousing in the crowd. Dr. Wagner Jr., Felino, Fuerza Guerrera and Mr. Niebla, among others, were all given a 3 month suspension from wrestling in TJ for endangering the crowd on hand. In a related story of life imitating art, everybody's favorite chair swinging bastard, La Parka has also been placed on a temporary suspension for supposedly smashing a fan with a chair. Hold on a second...I just have to type that again: La Parka hit a fan with a chair. Now I'm all for fan safety, but how lucky is the guy that got hit with the chair. My best lucha story is how I pussed out when I came face to face with Mil Mascaras. This guy will be able to tell his children and his children's children about the glorious time La Parka whacked him with a chair. While the other luchadores will miss a few months of action, La Parka only missed one show, and will be returning this Friday to begin feuding with the everybody's favorite bad-ass cannuck, Vampiro. The two will be main-eventing during the next two weeks in Tijuana. | ||

Even in the last pathetic years of WCW, Juventud Guerrera stood out. Not only among the foreign talent, not only among the
cruiserweights, Juventud had the ability, style and charisma that made him one of brightest young stars in the entire
federation...and then they toured Australia and the rest is history. Fast forward a few years, and Juvi has done a good job of digging his way out of the hole he created with the
'ecstasy' incident. He has returned to Mexico, landing a top spot in CMLL, is getting indy dates all over the place, and even though he bares a chilling facial resemblance to Michael Jackson, was invited to join the upstart, XWF federation. Not too bad...for a KLEPTOMANIAC! Rumor has it that Juventud has a nasty habit of holding on to the title belts he gets his hands on. Mumblings on the Highspots message board reported BTW's concern when Juvi wouldn't return their calls after walking off with their cruiserweight belt. A few months later, after
apparently making a good impression on the XWF officials, more rumors are surfacing. The XWF's current
cruiserweight champion was reportedly stopped by members of XWF's staff when the belt was nowhere to be found. They questioned Juventud about the missing belt, and were assured by him that he didn't know the title's whereabouts. The XWF officials proceeded to search Juvi's bags, where they found the missing championship belt. After what was sure to be a uncomfortable moment, they supposedly let Juventud know that they would no longer be needing his services. If this is true, then I feel bad for Juvi for lacking basic common sense, and worse for Nicho (Psicosis), who will probably be jobbing to Buff Bagwell and Norman Smiley for the remainder of his tenure with
XWF.
A quick TV note, the Canadian music network, MuchMusic has recently put together a lucha libre story, which I believe will feature lucha workers from the Southern California area. It will be part of a show called, 'TheNewMusic,' and will air on Monday Feb 11. at 9:00 PM. I'm not sure how widespread the availability is for MuchMusic, but I've heard that for some obscure reason, they carry the station at the AppleBees chain of restaurants, so I imagine it is available through certain cable networks. |
