Sunday, March 17, CMLL will present it's latest pay per view, "Apocalypsis." And much like the latest WrestleMania (which airs the same day), the PPV is already facing
criticism for sloppy booking and poor build up. Of the four major feuds being featured on CMLL television, the most boring of them is getting main events rights, as Gran Markus Jr and Veneno will go one on one at the PPVs requisite hair vs. mask match. There is speculation that even though the feud will be showcased during the main event, it will most likely continue with a bald Gran Markus refusing to back down from his Boriqua tormentors. With the rotund Markus' lack of physical ability, it is a given the match will be bad, but with the always entertaining Veneno in the other corner, the question will be, how bad? The controversy over the trios title will be resolved when Blue Panther and Wagner Jr (who have elected to bring in Fuerza Guerrera as their new partner) will put their two trios belts against Black Warriors trios belt, with Antifaz and Mr. Niebla joining him. The winning team will reunite all three belts as the new trios champs. Although the match itself should kick ass, it seems like something we've seen on the Tuesday shows before. If the luchadores involved decide to pick up the pace a bit for the PPV, they could easily steal the show. |

The fourth match of the night will feature the much anticipated return of Vampiro to CMLL, where he will team with Shocker and Rayo de Jalisco Jr, against Ultimo Guerrero, Tarzan Boy and Universo 2000. Although Vamps traveling schedule may conflict with working future dates, both he and the CMLL booking team are interested in him working additional shows in the future, possibly even fueding with Universo. It's also interesting that CMLL opted to blow off the Shocker/Tarzan and
Rayo/Universo feuds by including them in this trios match, considering the poor build up of almost every other match in the lineup. I can't say I'm
disappointed though, as Shocker and Tarzan have wrestled each other so many times in the last few weeks that their
feud is burning out. The Rayo/Universo feud was burned out before it even started, so hopefully it will come to an end at the PPV. Considering that the booking decisions of the PPV were
pretty loose to begin with, I'd have liked if they threw in Mascara Magica and Rey Bucanero on opposite teams here to give it a larger sense of importance. Finally, several outside luchadores are going to be brought in, including the debut of a new mini, Pequeno Olympico, and Super Parka. While it may not be huge news, I've been jonesin' for a Parka fix in CMLL, and seeing the neon green Super Parka mixing it up with the Infernales may be just what I need. Although the PPV won't be available in the US, any self respecting tape dealer should have a copy available shortly after. The winner of the WWF vs. Lucha Libre contest was announced earlier this week. Check out his great entry, along with some very honorable mentions here. A special thanks to everybody that entered. When I one day wreak havoc across the globe, you will spared the taste of my mighty wrath. Until next update, VIVA LA LUCHA LIBRE! This weeks featured site: PolarBearVixen |
