March 28, 2002

Ever since the World Wrestling Federation declined to purchase Rey Misterio Jr's contract a few months back, rumors have flooded the internet regarding the WWF's intent to eventually sign him. With the recent 'brand extension' angle playing out, the WWF is finally in a position to begin signing new talent again, and it appears that Rey Jr has been the first to benefit. Recently launching an official website (see the link below and check out the great photo gallery), Rey Misterio Jr has formally announced that he has officially signed with the WWF, and should be making his debut soon. He also states that he is looking forward to the opportunity of working with both Matt and Jeff Hardy.
As if that wasn't good enough news, it is widely being reported that Eddie Guerrero will be returning to WWF roster in the next few weeks as well. Guerrero, who had recently been released from the company for DUI charges, has been working steadily on indy shows across the country, and overseas (see below), since his release.

Suspiciously absent from recent CMLL tapings, Black Tiger was recently invited to join the 'Hyper Battle 2000' tour with the New Japan promotion, overseas. He was joined by Eddy Guerrero, who at one time competed in Japan under the Black Tiger gimmick himself. The two quickly became members of the 'Team 2000' stable, and have been spending the last two and half weeks competing against Jushin Liger and the rest of the New Japan representatives.
When Tiger returns to CMLL in April, he won't be alone. Three members of the New Japan roster will accompany him to compete in several CMLL events next month. El Puma Inoue (Wataru Inoue), Hijo de Shibata (Katsuyori Shibata) and Muga Takemura (Katsushi Takemura) will be brought in to become accustomed to the lucha libre style, and in turn become more well rounded workers. Profiles for the arriving Japanese wrestlers, as well as profiles for the entire New Japan roster can be found here.  Until next time, VIVA LA LUCHA LIBRE!
