Although not quite as beefy as last weeks offering, CMLL hooked up a satisfying helping of lucha last night. Shocker defended his title against Wagner Jr, Veneno wrestled in his first official match since losing his mask, and another appearance by the infamous Talibans.

Shocker (champion) vs.
Dr Wagner Jr in a CMLL Light Heavyweight Title match
Veneno, Violencia & Killer vs.
Poder Boriqua, Mr Mexico & Averno
(tecnicos won the 3rd fall by DQ)
Negro Casas, Mr Niebla & Black Warrior vs.
Los Guapos Talibans

The Shocker/Wagner match was great, especially the grappling sequence in the first fall. Wagner Jr may have lost the match, but he remains the most stylishly innovative luchador in CMLL with the 'black ooze' design he sported last night. Black Warriors tope suicida in the main event will be a Momento Estelare next week, as it rocked ass. Mr Niebla was on fire in the main as well, especially for the finish of the third fall. If he'd only stop doing those little dances, he could be a real contender.

It's almost a given that if the Boriquas appear on the show, they're going to end up in The Stupid section. I can dig the fact that they employ a witch doctor to perform rituals on them, but their vignette just dragged on. And what was the deal with the witchdoctor's fruity, gold hat? As much as I dislike the Boriquas, I was kind of hoping they'd get the win, since the tecnico team looked like it was just thrown together for the hell of it (Mr Mexico looks like an extra from American Me).
