With nostalgia being a driving force in pop culture, the generation that grew up admiring lucha legends like Santo and Blue Demon are taking that admiration and focusing it creatively. One of the best examples of this is lucha inspired rock offerings from Mexican-American bands from California and abroad.
Socal, spanish rockers, Emaue prove how well this concept works with their sixth track from Aún Así CD, titled appropriately enough, Santo y Blue Demon. As two lucha groupies discuss which luchador they prefer in the songs intro (sampled from a Mexilucha film), you immediately become aware of the bands love for their subject matter. Dizzying keyboard work sets the tone, as Emaue's vocalist, J.L. "Cuevo" recalls the lucha icon's respective adventures, and his fond memories of them. One bitchin' guitar solo later, and Emaue officially enters the lucha rock hall of fame with this awesome tribute.
