Nothing like a good wrestling show to rejuvenate the lucha libre section of the brain!  Califa Lucha Libre Estilo had their debut show this weekend, and were kind enough to give us access to the event.  Those of you who’re getting impatient with some of the skinnier site sections here at Viva will be glad to know that we took advantage of this, so expect several updates to occur throughout the next few days.
The show itself was a great debut for the new promotion, and we look forward to receiving reports from any future Califa shows happening down the line.  Scorpio Jr. successfully defended his IWRG Intercontinental title against Rockero Del Diablo in a great main event.  We’ve received interviews from both wrestlers, so make sure to check out the Features and Profiles.  The Califa LLE coverage officially begins below, and continues over in the Photo section with Rob Analog’s drunken photo rampage.  Viva La Lucha Libre!

It’s no secret that we here at VivaLaLuchaLibre.Net are giant Guerreros Del Infierno fans.  Every time they're on Galavision, we crowd around the small tv (which is actually sitting on a larger, broken tv) and mark out for their cool ass submission moves, and Rey Bucanero’s bitchin’ arm-slapping taunt.  As you can imagine, when we heard that they would be getting a chance to compete in front a large American audience when they wrestle for MLW in Florida on August 22, we were quite excited.  Sweetening the deal, they’ll be facing lucha libre’s long lost cousins, the Spanish Announce Team, in a dream match of international proportions.
While attending the stellar Califa LLE show, Rob Analog had the chance to talk to the Maximos, as they were winding down after the show.
Jose, the more talkative of the two, is very familiar with the GdI, as he admitted that the Spanish Announce Team are big lucha fans, “Yeah, we watch the Galavision show when we can.  We like Super Crazy…Los Guerreros… and Ricky Marvin.”

Aware of Ultimo Guerrero and Rey Bucanero’s tendency to work their opponent’s legs with multiple chain-submission moves, Jose is taking steps to ensure that he’s 100% for their MLW match.  Although still nursing a dislocated ankle, he was confident that he’d be more than ready for Los Guerreros.
With a confident look about them, they were quick to give their predictions for their eventual showdown in Florida , “We’re excited!  It’ll be great.  We look forward to learning from them…and they can learn from us.  We’ll beat them though.  I can’t wait!”
I’d like to thank the bookers over at MLW for coming up with this classic matchup, and can’t wait to see what is sure to be a phenomenal bout.  Be sure to check out their official site for more information.
