February 20, 2002

Alright, I thought I'd try something new this week that will give you readers the chance to...

I've brought the popular glass encased photos that vendors sell in front of the lucha shows. Now, granted they are rather inexpensive, I picked up two of the best ones available, including an awesome Wagner Jr photo, and the new Familia de Tijuana with the gothic hottie, Lady Victoria! I'm not one to ask a lot of you bastards, so it's really easy. I want you to e-mail your fantasy booking ideas for the ultimate Lucha Libre VS. the WWF PPV card. There's no requirements for your submissions whatsoever, but the person who comes up with the most creative lineup of luchadores versus the current WWF roster will receive their choice of the pictured souvenir photos in the mail.  I encourage you all to include your reasons (if any) as to why you chose the respective matchups, and make sure to include which of the photos you want. So get cracking, you crazy kids, as the deadline to get your ideas in is roughly one week from today.

During a recent poll from Televisa Deportes, La Parka Jr, Latin Lover and Rayo de Jalisco Jr were competing for 'Luchodor of the Year' honors. In my quest to further understand the mind of the Mexican lucha fan, I was pushed two steps back with this one. I'd really like to know if a 'committee' decided on the nominations or if fans chose who would make up the ballot. I could also see somebody from AAA influencing the nominations, as they did pick two luchadores who are legitimately popular and able from Pena's roster. Rayo De Jalisco Jr. makes no sense though, as he is neither the most popular CMLL luchador, and he is certainly not the most talented. For those interested, La Parka Jr. (aka- that fake bastard) won the poll. There is no justice in the world.

For those who long for the days of WCW Lucha in it's prime, the upstart fed, WWA, will be presenting a pay-per-view live from Las Vegas on Sunday, 2/22. Eddie Guerrero, Psicosis (Nicho), and Juventud Guerrera are booked in a 3-way dance for the fed's cruiserweight strap. The PPV will also feature WCW/WWF rejects, including Scott Steiner and Sabu, as well as some of the top indy names competing in a 'cruiserweight surival match.' The wrestlers involved will also participate in a fan meet-and-greet the day before. A 'Viva' correspondent will be on hand for the festivities, so we will hopefully feature some photos, as well as highlights of the lucha match.
